God often requires us to give him something to work with. It might be small, but Jesus says that faith the size of a mustard seed is what God requires to move mountains.
We find that principle active in today’s Gospel. A little child gave his all, as little as it was, and God made it suffice.
The little child in the Gospel had five barley loaves and two fish. Not much, really, when compared to what was needed to feed the multitudes. But Jesus took what the child gave to him and multiplied it to feed the great crowd of hungry people.
Think about this. The bread and wine we bring to the altar at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass represents all that we have to give. Jesus takes what we give, and he changes it into his very life, his body and his blood. Jesus is able to do great things with what we offer to him.
Let us give what we have to God — all that we have! And then let God give his all to us — his very life in Jesus.
Hold nothing back from God. He holds nothing back from us!
Have a blessed week everyone.
