It seems as though the people opposed to Jesus were looking for every reason to get rid of him. He healed on a Sabbath, which some Jews believed was work, and working on the Sabbath was forbidden by God’s law. But, Jesus had done something very good on the Sabbath. He had healed a sick and desperate man. This didn’t matter to those who hated Jesus. They took the kindness of Jesus and used it against him. “(They) began to persecute Jesus because he did this on a Sabbath.”
Today we pray for those who persecute Christ and want to do harm to the members of his body in the Church for doing what is good.
