Clergy assignment changes – March/April 2025

Father Edward F. Suszynski concludes his assignment as presbyteral moderator of St. Stephen Parish, West Salem, effective June 1. His appointment as pastor of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, Lichfield, remains unchanged.

Father Timothy J. Gareau was appointed as administrator of St. John Neumann Parish in Strongsville effective immediately. This is in addition to his assignment as Pastor of St. Colette Parish, Brunswick. His residence remains unchanged.

Father Alexander C. Spenik concludes his appointment as parochial vicar of St. Mary Parish, Painesville and he was appointed administrator of Sacred Heart Chapel Parish in Lorain, effective June 30.

Father William A. Thaden concludes his assignment as pastor of Sacred Heart Chapel Parish, Lorain, and he was appointed as pastor of St. Martin of Tours Parish, Valley City, effective June 30.

Father Rodney A. Kreidler was appointed presbyteral moderator of St. Stephen Parish, West Salem, effective June 1. This is in addition to his appointment as pastor of St. Edward Parish, Ashland, and his responsibilities as presbyteral moderator of St. Peter Parish in Loudonville.

Father Paul J. Rosing was appointed presbyteral moderator of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Akron, effective immediately.

Father Damian Ference was appointed parochial vicar of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Cleveland, effective April 1. This is in addition to his current assignment as vicar for evangelization for the Diocese of Cleveland. His residence remains unchanged.

Father Barry T. Gearing, pastor of St. John Neumann Parish in Strongsville, was granted an authorized leave of absence for sick leave, effective immediately.

Father Dennis M. McNeil, senior parochial vicar of Immaculate Conception Parish, Willoughby, received permission to retire, effective June 5. His residence remains unchanged.

Father Daniel J. Reed concludes his appointment as pastor of St. Martin of Tours Parish, Valley City, and he was granted senior retirement status, effective June 30.

Father Joseph P. O’Donnell, senior parochial vicar of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Wickliffe, resigned from active ministry and was granted retirement status, effective June 30.

Father John T. Carlin, pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Parma received permission to retire, effective June 30.

Father Joshua J. Cochrac was appointed to serve as a Catholic chaplain for the Eastlake Division of Police. This is in addition to his current assignment as administrator for St. Justin Martyr Parish, Eastlake.

Deacon Robert J. Stegmaier was appointed parish life coordinator of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Akron, effective immediately.

Deacon Joseph P. Litke concludes his diaconal assignment at Holy Family Parish, Parma, and he was granted retirement status, effective immediately.

Father Reg Tiongson, with permission of the Most Rev. Bartolome Santos Jr., bishop of the Diocese of Iba (Philippines), was granted faculties of the Diocese of Cleveland, effective March 5. He was granted residence at the Cathedral of St. John Evangelist, Cleveland.

Canon Brian Bovee, ICRSS, with permission of the Rev. Canon Matthew Talarico, ICRSS, U.S. provincial superior of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, was granted faculties of the Diocese of Cleveland for one year, effective March 12.
