Judas was a close companion of Jesus, but he was so unholy. Just being close to Jesus doesn’t necessarily make a person holy. Think of the scandal of a priest who handles holy things but leads an unholy and scandalous life. Being close to Jesus isn’t enough; we need to let him in. He needs to change us from the inside out.
Instead of letting Jesus into his heart, after Judas had eaten with Jesus, “Satan entered him.”
We hold the key to our hearts. We have a choice. Even if we go to daily Mass, pray the rosary often, and read the Bible – being close to Jesus is not enough. We must let Jesus enter into our lives, and change us from the inside, or else Satan will want to take his place.
Let’s be resolved during Holy Week to reserve a space in our hearts for Christ and for no one else.
