The wake for Deacon (Charles) Pete Moore, a retired extern deacon of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, Louisiana, who served for 21 years at St. Joseph Parish in Strongsville, will begin at 3 p.m. May 20 in St. Joseph Church, 12700 Pearl Road, Strongsville. Visitation will follow until 7 p.m.
The funeral Mass for Deacon Moore will be at 11 a.m. May 21 in St. Joseph Church, with an hour of visitation prior to Mass.
Deacon Moore, 89, died on May 4. Survivors include Jacqueline, his wife of 66 years, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He answered the call to ministry in 1992, and was accepted as a candidate to the permanent diaconate program in Cleveland. The following year, he began a new position in New Orleans and transferred to the diaconate program in the archdiocese. He was ordained as a deacon for service to the Archdiocese of New Orleans by Archbishop Francis Schulte on May 11, 1996, in the Cathedral of St. Louis.
After ordination, Deacon Moore was assigned to serve at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Bell Chasse, Louisiana, where he remained for three years.
He and his family moved back to Ohio in 1999, and Deacon Moore was accepted for service to the Diocese of Cleveland. He was assigned to St. Joseph Parish in Strongsville, where he served for 21 years before retiring in July 2021.
Those who knew him said Deacon Moore touched many lives with his deep faith through his homilies. He officiated at weddings, funerals and baptisms, counseling and RCIA talks. They said he was a remarkable man who gave of himself to always help others.

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park.
