Clergy assignment changes  -- July 2025

Father Anthony J. Simone concluded his assignment as administrator of St. Jerome Parish, Cleveland, and as administrator of Holy Redeemer Parish, Cleveland, and he was appointed pastor of St. Jerome Parish, Cleveland, and pastor of Holy Redeemer Parish, Cleveland, effective Aug. 1.

Father Paul Dressler, OFM Cap, per the request and recommendation of the Very Rev. Robert Marva, OFM Cap, provincial minister, Province of St. Augustine, was appointed pastor of St. Agnes-Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Cleveland, effective July 1.

Father James Watson, OFM Cap, per the request and recommendation of the Very Rev. Robert Marva, OFM Cap, provincial minister of the Capuchin Franciscan Friars, Province of St. Augustine, concluded his assignment as pastor of St. Agnes-Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Cleveland, effective July 1.

Father Joseph P. O’Donnell, senior parochial vicar of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Wickliffe, was granted retirement status, effective June 30.

Father Jared P. Orndorff, pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Cuyahoga Falls, had his appointment as pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Cuyahoga Falls, renewed for a six-year period.

Father John M. Pfeifer, Jr., pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Cleveland, and pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Cleveland, had his appointment as pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Cleveland, and pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Cleveland, renewed for a six-year period.

Father Christopher H. Weber, pastor of Guardian Angels Parish, Copley, had his appointment as pastor of Guardian Angels Parish, Copley, renewed for a six-year period.

Father Kevin J. Fox, pastor of SS. Peter and Paul Parish, was appointed chaplain of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4130, effective June 11.

Father Steven Ntui, chaplain of Cleveland Clinic Hospital, changed residences from the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament Provincial House in Highland Heights to Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish rectory in South Euclid, effective July 1.

Father Daniel J. Reed, senior priest retired, was granted permission to live in the rectory at St. Peter Parish, Loudonville.

Father Robert Edwards, with permission of the Most Rev. David Bonnar, bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, received faculties in the Diocese of Cleveland to celebrate Spanish Masses at St. Bernard Parish in Akron. These faculties are effective June 11, for a period of one year.

Father John P. Fitzgibbons, S.J., with permission of the Very Rev. Karl J. Kiser, S.J., provincial of the USA Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus, was appointed superior of the Jesuit Community in Cleveland, with residence at John Carroll Jesuit Residence in University Heights, effective July 15.

Father W. Pierce Gibson IV, S.J., with permission of the Very Rev. Karl J. Kiser, S.J., provincial of the USA Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus, was appointed as a teacher at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, with residence at the Saint Ignatius Dependent Jesuit Community, effective July 3.

Father Samuel Leonard, IVE, with permission of the Rev. Andrew E. Whiting, IVE, provincial superior of the Institute of the Incarnate Word, was granted faculties of the Diocese of Cleveland to hear confessions and concelebrate Mass for the Cleveland Diocese's St. Padre Pio Prayer Group that meets on the first Saturday of the month at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Macedonia. This is effective June 1, for a period of one year.

Father James McGivney, S.J., with permission of the Very Rev. Karl J. Kiser, S.J., provincial of the USA Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus, was appointed parochial vicar at Gesu Parish, University Heights, through July 31. Following the conclusion of this appointment at Gesu Parish, he was assigned to ministry on the faculty and staff of Walsh Jesuit High School with residence at the Walsh Jesuit Community, Cuyahoga Falls, effective Aug. 1.

Father Cyril N. Pinchak, S.J., with permission of the Very Rev. Karl J. Kiser, S.J., provincial of the USA Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus, was appointed as a teacher at Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, with residence at Walsh Jesuit Community, Cuyahoga Falls, effective July 15.
