Once again, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will have its annual Blanket Sunday appeal. Now in its 39th year, Blanket Sunday is the organization’s largest fundraiser.
Beginning this weekend, SVdP is asking for monetary donations to help purchase blankets, beds and other winter essentials for those in need. All money raised stays in Northeast Ohio. This year, they have radio spots on The Rock Catholic Radio (AM 1260) and WTAM (AM 1100). There are also several billboards around the Cleveland/Akron area advertising this important campaign. Also, there is a new website with more information about the fundraiser and how to donate.
“The need in Northeast Ohio is great. With winter approaching, having a warm blanket can make a big difference to those in need,” said Jack Bedell, SVdP executive director.
Through the Blanket Sunday appeal last year, SVdP purchased more than 5,000 blankets, 500-plus beds and bedding and helped more than 500 families pay utility bills. SVdP uses the funds raised to buy new bedding in bulk for distribution to those in need.
Donations are accepted by check, payable to St. Vincent de Paul, or make a secure online donation here.
