About 175 priests serving the Diocese of Cleveland gathered on Oct. 14 at St. Albert the Great Parish in North Royalton for a daylong convocation.
Bishop Edward Malesic began the event by leading the priests in morning prayer. The bishop then spoke for a few minutes about the value of synodality in the life of the Church and specifically within the diocesan presbyterate.
“It is important that we come together to listen to one another,” he told his brother priests.
Father Aaron Wessman, a Glenmary Missionary, addressed the presbyterate on “The Church’s Mission in a Polarized World.” Father Wessman wrote the book by the same title and used it as the base of his presentations. The group looked at the questions and tensions that exist in the world today, as well as finding hope by embracing the call of discipleship to live in hope and to embrace and examine what Jesus would do.
Bishop Malesic concluded the day by conducting a conversation with the presbyterate.
