The April 15 deadline to file 2025 state income taxes and to participate in the Angel Scholarship Fund for 2025 is approaching fast.
“Angel Madness,” a friendly competition, will take place during the month of March across the Diocese of Cleveland. It will help raise awareness of the Angel Scholarship Fund and encourage participation.
Through ASF, the state allows taxpayers to “spend” some of the state income taxes they pay to provide tuition assistance for students being educated in Catholic schools.
ASF donors receive a dollar-for-dollar Ohio income tax credit of up to $750 – or $1,500 for married couples filing jointly – against their state tax liability. Their contributions can be directed to a specific school in the diocese or to the area of greatest need, which will support applicants from across the diocese.
In the monthlong Angel Madness competition, each school will participate in a “dollar” or a “donor” bracket. The competition is coordinated by the Catholic Community Foundation, which supports the mission of the diocese to provide for the spiritual, educational and charitable needs of people throughout Northeast Ohio.
Gold bracket schools will compete each week to be among those with the most online dollars, while blue bracket schools will compete weekly to be among those with the most online unique donors. Weekly winners will be listed each Tuesday. Totals will be weekly. After the final week, one school in each bracket will be declared the Angel Madness champion. The two winning schools will receive an ice cream party for all students.
Schools have declared which bracket they will participate in. Click here to view the brackets and for more information on the challenge.
