Instead of rejoicing that a man had been healed by Jesus, some people were disturbed by what happened next. After his healing on the Sabbath, the man picked up his mat and walked home, just as Jesus had commanded him. Upon seeing the man, some rebuked him because they believed that carrying a mat violated the Sabbath prohibition against working.
How often do we find ourselves focusing on—and even arguing over—the smaller, debatable details of life and religion, while overlooking the far greater works that God accomplishes for us each day? Why do we sometimes miss the miracles of God while we debate minutia?
