Jesus said in today’s Gospel, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.”
Let us take a few moments to reflect on the face of Jesus and see the face of the Father.
His face is in the infant child of Bethlehem who came to us in poverty to share in our need.
His is the face filled with wisdom who astonished the learned scholars as he taught them in the Temple, even as a teenaged boy.
His is the face filled with forgiveness who looked at the woman caught in adultery and said that her sins were forgiven commanding her to go and sin no more.
His is the face filled with pity as he looked over the crowds for they were like sheep without a shepherd.
His is the face filled with glory as it was transfigured on the mountain to give us a glimpse of his divine nature.
His is the face filled with compassion, not accusation, when he looked at Peter who had just denied him three times.
His is the face filled with silence as he was brought before Pilate, being led like a lamb to the slaughter.
His is the face filled with pain as he hung upon the cross, giving his life for the sake of others.
His is the face filled with triumph as he rose gloriously transformed after three days in the tomb.
His is the face filled with expectation as he calls after you: “Come, follow me” as the Way, the Truth and the Life.
His is the face that longs to see your face.
Have a blessed week everyone.
