Today, as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the bishops from across the United States will consecrate the country to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Many of the bishops, including Bishop Edward Malesic and Auxiliary Bishop Michael Woost, are in Orlando, Florida for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ annual Spring Plenary meetings.
Parishes across the country are being encouraged to join the bishops in celebrating this consecration.
Leading up to the consecration, the bishops and faithful have been praying a Novena to the Sacred Heart June 3-11. The novena draws its daily devotions from the Litany of the Sacred Heart. Each day reflects on the wisdom of saints and pontiffs on the Sacred Heart and offers opportunities for prayer and action, framed by Pope Francis’ encyclical Dilexit Nos (He Loved Us) and Pope Leo XIV’s apostolic exhortation Dilexi Te (I Have Loved You).

A special prayer for the consecration can be accessed here. It is available in English, Spanish, French, Tagalog and Vietnamese.
The consecration Mass, which will be attended by many of the bishops, can be viewed here.
