Office of Catechetical Services Collection: | May 7-8, 2022
Each year in the Diocese of Cleveland, a special collection is taken up in all the parishes to support the ministries of the Office of Catechetical Services. This Diocesan Secretariat focuses on providing guidance and support that promotes the evangelizing mission of the Church through the catechetical efforts of all parishes and Newman Campus ministries in the Diocese. Ministries which will benefit from this collection include: faith formation for adults, teens and children, and family-based faith formation, as well as the ongoing formation of Parish Catechetical Leaders and catechists as missionary disciples.  Newman Catholic Campus Ministries provides opportunities for students to deepen a relationship with Christ through prayer and worship, community, faith and Bible studies, retreats and service. This year the collection will be held on the weekend of 7-8 May 2022. A contribution to the Office of Catechetical Services is an investment in the faith formation of people of all ages throughout the Diocese of Cleveland. Please encourage giving to this very special collection.

Missionary Cooperation Plan (MCP) Collection
We would like to thank those of you who participate in the Missionary Cooperation Plan (MCP).  You are assisting worthy organizations while providing an opportunity for parishioners to learn about what is happening in the mission field today.  Connecting the local church with the global Church allows us to realize our baptismal call.

We kindly ask that you send in this collection within a few months of the mission appeal.  We are increasingly experiencing instances in which missionaries contact us, asking about their collection that happened 6, 8 or even more months beforehand.  These (arch)dioceses and organizations depend on the MCP and we need to send them the funds that they have raised in a timely fashion.

You are reminded that the money collected for your MCP speaker is not sent directly to his/her (arch)diocese or organization.  Instead, it should be sent to the Mission Office, and we will mail a check to the appropriate contact person.

Information on the MCP
We have placed information regarding the MCP on our webpage, including a listing of each MCP participant and a brief description of their ministry.  Perhaps you can refer to this table when you are preparing a bulletin blurb for your MCP weekend.

Office for the Protection of Children

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
We highlight this month every year and, given the lingering effects of the persistent pandemic, it is important to do everything that we can to protect our children. While the global trauma has impacted all of us, we can be a part of the solution to provide safe, healthy, and happy environments for our children. You can find a link to a comprehensive Resource Booklet assembled by the USCCB here. The booklet includes such items as suggested virtual activities, homily helps, sample social media posts, and other good ideas to raise awareness about child abuse prevention. Thank you.
