OCIA: FDLC Kits
The Diocese of Cleveland has purchased kits provided by the FDLC (Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions) to assist parishes with developing their OCIA team and process. Our purchase allows any parish in the diocese to print and use the materials in these kits. As these materials are copyright protected, access to the kits can be provided via a OneDrive folder that contains all of the contents of the five kits, along with a brief PDF document describing the contents. To receive access, email Mary Hrich.
OCIA: Digital Institute
Beginning August 11, LTP is offering a digital institute series of orientation sessions for new OCIA Coordinators. Ninety-minute web-based virtual workshops cover a variety of topics, from the vision of OCIA to skills for effective ministry. In November, LTP is offering a digital institute focused on implementing a year-round catechumenate. Learn more at Virtual Workshops - LTP.
September 2025 Liturgical Calendar Reminders:
On a convenient weekday in September, it is customary to celebrate a Mass of the Holy Spirit to mark the opening of the academic year. As a new academic year begins, also see Order for the Blessing of Students and Teachers (Book of Blessings, nos. 522-550) and Prayers to Begin a School Year, Prayer for Students and Prayer for Teachers (Household Book of Blessings, pp. 300-302).
September 1 is to be observed as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. Prayer resources are available here.
In commemoration of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, a Blue Mass may be celebrated during the week of September 7-13, to honor all firefighters, police officers, and EMTs who serve the local community, as well as to remember those who died over the past year. A Mass For Those in Public Office (Roman Missal #22) or For the Preservation of Peace and Justice (RM #30) are suggested.
Catechetical Sunday falls on September 21. This year’s theme is "Always be ready to give an explanation…for a reason for your hope." (1 Peter 3:15), encouraging us to be prepared to share the basis of our faith, the Lord, and the hope he provides. Resources are available here.

August is National Make A Will Month
NMAWM is the largest planned giving campaign of the year for nonprofits. In Luke 12, Jesus responds to a question about inheritance with a call to be “rich toward God,” reminding us of the spiritual importance of how we plan and give. Today, as we face the largest wealth transfer in history, parishes have both an opportunity and a responsibility to equip their communities to live and give with eternal purpose.

My Daily Prayers
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20
“My Daily Prayers” is a free daily recording of prayers led by the bishops and priests of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland and delivered each day directly through email.
Each free daily recording, lasting approximately 10 minutes, invites all into prayer, sharing information about each specific day and what it means to the church and to each of us. Through different prayers led by our Clergy, all are offered encouragement and an invitation to enter into deeper personal relationship with our living and true God.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for us here at the Diocese to connect “one on one” and encourage all to open their heart to our Lord and receive His guidance, His healing and His blessings.
Come together in prayer with “My Daily Prayers”. Sign up here. Bulletin inserts and other promotional materials are available here.

Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope
The Jubilee bulletin insert for August is currently available in English and Spanish.
One of the normal conditions for obtaining a plenary indulgence is to pray for the Pope and his intentions. The Pope’s monthly intention for August is for mutual coexistence.
Let us pray that societies where coexistence seems more difficult might not succumb to the temptation of confrontation for ethnic, political, religious, or ideological reasons.
