Assistant Advancement Director of Engagement, Alumnae & Grants The Assistant Advancement Director is a senior fundraiser and a strong relationship-builder, focusing on driving philanthropy, advocacy, grant writing, and engagement with and for Our Lady of the Elms School. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement and partnering with the Board of Trustees Advancement Committee, and/or the School President, you execute annual fundraising goals, write grants, manage donor portfolios, and coordinate special campaigns and events. You typically oversee community engagement and outreach for the Advancement Department, including relations with the Alumnae Association.
Core Responsibilities ● Develop Fundraising Strategy: Helping the School and Board accomplish strategic philanthropic financial objectives across multiple funding sources including individual giving, grants and partnerships. Developing and collaborating with the administrative staff on annual giving programs, capital campaigns, and major gift solicitations, as pre-approved by the VP of Advancement and/or the President. Managing budgets, maintaining donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce), and tracking strategic KPIs. Ensuring database integrity and utilizing moves management and grant management tools in Raiser’s Edge to drive efficiency and effectiveness in donor outreach, communications and solicitations. ● Sustain Donor Relations: Managing donor portfolios for the Department; Identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of individual, foundation and corporate donors, as pre-approved by the VP of Advancement and/or the School President. ● Team & Event Leadership: Planning and overseeing fundraising events, such as Fantasy, and coordinating volunteer committees for the Department and School, as pre-approved by the VP of Advancement and/or the School President. ● Maintain Communications: Maintains close and highly collaborative relationships and communications within the Advancement team, management, faculty, Board, alumnae, and other constituencies. Develops philanthropy-focused messaging for use in School and Board newsletters and campaigns. ● Lead Grants Strategy: Research, identify, write, and monitor non-profit grants for the Elms, promoting a message to raise operating, scholarship, and unrestricted for the Elms, as pre-approved by the VP of Advancement and/or the President. Develop and maintain organized process for grants management, utilizing Raiser’s Edge and other methods. ● Collaborate with Alumnae: Collaborate to build a strong alumni program defined by a clear identity and well-defined communications strategies and engagement plans for such constituent groups as alumni, alumni affiliates, parents, grandparents, and friends of the Elms. Integrates alumni prospects into annual giving and major gifts strategies.
Qualifications & Requirements ● Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or Nonprofit Management; Nonprofit or fundraising certification is preferred; Master’s degree is highly respected; ● Minimum five (5) years’ experience in fundraising and grant writing; Management experience with a nonprofit organization preferred; Thorough working knowledge of relationship-based fundraising procedures and philosophies; ● Demonstrated passion for interacting with donors and tangible experience soliciting, closing, and stewarding gifts at significant levels; ● Relationship-building, grant writing, data analytics, and proficiency with CRM platforms; ● Event planning, implementation and assessment of impact; ● Work respectfully across all management units and donor constituencies; Exceptional interpersonal and quantitative analysis skills; ● High level of discretion, integrity, and executive judgment in difficult and/or complex organizational decisions.
