POSITION OVERVIEW St. Paul School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our middle school faculty as a Social Studies Teacher and 7th Grade Homeroom Teacher. The successful candidate will deliver engaging instruction in Social Studies across the middle school grades while serving as the primary mentor and advocate for the 7th grade homeroom class. This individual will embody our Catholic mission and foster a classroom environment that is inclusive, rigorous, and faith-centered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Duties • Plan, prepare, and deliver effective Social Studies instruction aligned with Ohio Academic Content Standards and the school’s Catholic identity • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, projects, and assessments that challenge students academically and spark curiosity • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of middle school students • Integrate primary sources, current events, and critical thinking into daily instruction • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians • Collaborate with grade-level and departmental colleagues to align curriculum and support student success 7th Grade Homeroom Responsibilities • Serve as the primary point of contact and advocate for students and families in the 7th grade homeroom • Foster a positive, welcoming, and orderly homeroom environment that reflects Catholic values • Monitor student academic progress, attendance, and social-emotional well-being • Communicate proactively and consistently with parents and guardians regarding student development • Coordinate with support staff, counselors, and administrators on student needs and concerns • Lead morning prayer, homeroom activities, and support student participation in school events and liturgies Professional & Community Responsibilities • Actively support and integrate the Catholic faith and mission of St. Paul School into all aspects of teaching • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, parent-teacher conferences, and school events • Supervise students during assigned duties such as lunch, recess, and extracurricular activities • Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment consistent with school policies • Contribute positively to the school community through collaboration, service, and professional conduct

QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution • Valid Ohio Teaching License with an endorsement in Social Studies (grades 4–12 or 7–12) — or willingness to obtain proper licensure prior to employment • VIRTUS® “Protecting God’s Children” training certification — or willingness to complete training as a condition of employment • Current FBI and BCI background checks (within 12 months) — or willingness to obtain prior to start date • Demonstrated commitment to the Catholic faith and the mission of Catholic education • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills • Passion for working with middle school-age students Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree in Education or a content-related field • Prior experience teaching Social Studies at the middle school level • Experience as a homeroom or advisory teacher • Familiarity with project-based learning, differentiated instruction, and formative assessment practices • Active participation in a Catholic faith community

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS As a condition of employment, all staff members at St. Paul School must meet the following requirements in accordance with the Diocese of Youngstown’s policies for the protection of children and youth: VIRTUS® Training Must hold a current “Protecting God’s Children” VIRTUS® certification or be willing and able to complete the required training prior to working with students. FBI Background Check Must provide a current Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) criminal background check issued within the past 12 months, or be willing to obtain one prior to employment. BCI Background Check Must provide a current Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check issued within the past 12 months, or be willing to obtain one prior to employment. Ohio Teaching License Must hold a valid Ohio Teaching License with appropriate Social Studies endorsement, or demonstrate willingness and eligibility to obtain proper licensure.
