Job Description: The Music Ministry Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with the pastor, staff, and volunteer cantors and musicians to plan and execute parish liturgical celebrations, including sacramental celebrations. The Music Ministry Coordinator develops and directs cantors and musicians to provide music leadership on Sundays and other special liturgies that will lead parishioners to full, and active participation in liturgical celebrations. The scope of this role is to discern, plan, prepare and implement music opportunities for everyone in the parish.

Responsibilities: • Understand and promote the Mission for Music Ministry at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish • Collaborate with the administrator/pastor, priests, staff, and volunteers to provide a strong music program. • Direct the parish music program - select, and plan music for use in Saturday and Sunday Masses and all Holy Days. • Oversees scheduling of cantors and musicians for Sunday, Holy Days and other special liturgies, weddings, and funerals • Oversee, prepare and lead Adult Choir, Women’s Choir and Men’s Choir and well as some children’s liturgies, Choirs and school events as needed. • Participates in Parish meetings, as needed. • Oversee the maintenance of the organ, pianos, sound, other musical instruments, and auxiliary equipment. • Prepare yearly music budget for review and approval. • Respond to daily correspondence in a timely manner. • Oversee and turn in accurate and timely pay reports for associate music ministers. • Hold occasional meetings/rehearsals and communication for musicians.

Competencies and Skills: • Knowledgeable of and comfortable with leading music ministry programs • Proficient in voice and either organ or piano • Understanding of Catholic practices and liturgical music • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people of all ages • Proficient in some computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office products and some website publishing. Other essential attributes include: excellent organization and communication skills (verbal and written), a proven track record of music ministry leadership, and the ability to deal tactfully with a diverse group of people. A practicing Catholic is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Theology preferred. A combination of experience or other relevant training be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

25,000 — 30,000
