ABOUT ST. POSITION OVERVIEW St. Paul School is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Physical Education Teacher to deliver a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate PE program for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The ideal candidate will inspire a lifelong love of movement and fitness, promote teamwork and fair play, and integrate our Catholic values of respect, dignity, and community into every class. This position plays a vital role in supporting the physical, social, and emotional health of our entire student body.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Duties • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate physical education lessons for students in grades K–8 aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards for Physical Education • Design a curriculum that promotes physical fitness, fundamental movement skills, sport skills, and lifetime wellness habits • Differentiate instruction to accommodate a wide range of developmental levels, abilities, and learning needs across K–8 grade spans • Assess and document student progress in physical skills, fitness, participation, and sportsmanship • Introduce students to a variety of individual, partner, team, and lifetime sports and fitness activities • Incorporate health education concepts including nutrition, personal wellness, and social-emotional well-being as appropriate • Integrate Catholic values such as respect for the body, teamwork, humility, and fair play into lessons and interactions Facility, Equipment & Safety • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming gymnasium and outdoor physical education environment • Inspect, inventory, and care for all PE equipment; communicate supply and equipment needs to administration • Establish and enforce clear safety rules and procedures to prevent injury and promote responsible behavior • Respond appropriately to injuries and emergencies in accordance with school health and safety protocols Extracurricular & Community Involvement • Support or coordinate intramural activities, field days, school fitness events, and other school-wide physical activities • Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce cross-curricular connections and support student development • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, parent-teacher conferences, and school events • Serve as a positive role model for students, promoting healthy and active lifestyles both in and out of school • Contribute enthusiastically to the broader St. Paul School community through service and school spirit

QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution • Valid Ohio Teaching License with an endorsement in Physical Education (PreK–12 or K–12) — or willingness and eligibility to obtain proper licensure prior to employment • VIRTUS® “Protecting God’s Children” training certification — or willingness to complete the required training as a condition of employment • Current FBI and BCI background checks (issued within the past 12 months) — or willingness to obtain both prior to start date • Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification — or willingness to obtain prior to start date • Demonstrated commitment to the Catholic faith and the mission of Catholic education • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students across a wide range of ages and developmental stages • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field • Prior experience teaching PE in a K–8 or Catholic school setting • Experience coaching youth sports at the interscholastic or recreational level • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning (SEL) in physical education contexts • Familiarity with fitness assessment tools (e.g., FitnessGram) and technology-integrated PE instruction • Active participation in a Catholic faith community

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS In accordance with the Diocese of Youngstown’s policies for the protection of children and youth, all employees of St. Paul School must satisfy the following requirements prior to working with students: VIRTUS® Training Must hold a current “Protecting God’s Children” VIRTUS® certification or be willing and able to complete the required training before working with students. FBI Background Check Must provide a current Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) criminal background check issued within the past 12 months, or be willing to obtain one prior to employment. BCI Background Check Must provide a current Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check issued within the past 12 months, or be willing to obtain one prior to employment. Ohio Teaching License Must hold a valid Ohio Teaching License with a Physical Education endorsement (PreK–12 or K–12), or demonstrate willingness and eligibility to obtain proper licensure. First Aid / CPR / AED Must hold a current First Aid and CPR/AED certification from an approved provider, or be willing to obtain certification prior to the first day of employment.
