Position Summary

Saint Ignatius High School is seeking a dependable, customer-service-oriented Cashier to join our Campus Dining team. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming dining experience by providing excellent customer service, accurately processing transactions, and assisting with food service operations.

Reporting to the Director of Campus Dining, the ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys working with students and thrives in a fast-paced food service environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Operate the cashier station and accurately process cash and credit card transactions.

  • Restock food, beverages, and grab-and-go items throughout meal service.

  • Balance daily cash and credit receipts while maintaining accurate records.

  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

  • Answer questions regarding menu items, pricing, and meal services.

  • Assist with food preparation, serving, and general dining room support as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area.

  • Support other Campus Dining staff to ensure efficient daily operations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Three or more years of cashier experience in a food service or institutional dining environment.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.

Preferred

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • ServSafe Certification.

  • Experience working in a school or educational environment.

  • Familiarity with the mission and values of Jesuit education.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 30 pounds.

  • Ability to work in a busy kitchen environment with exposure to heat, cold, cleaning chemicals, and slippery surfaces.

  • Ability to maintain composure and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced setting.
