Position Summary

Archbishop Hoban High School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered English Tutor for the 2026–27 school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to creating an inclusive, positive learning environment while actively engaging students in meaningful learning experiences and encouraging high academic achievement.

This position is well suited for an experienced educator, retired teacher, or recent graduate who is passionate about helping students strengthen their English language and literacy skills.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Contribute to student instruction and academic advancement by demonstrating competence in English and related subject areas.

  • Develop and implement lesson plans and study strategies tailored to individual student needs.

  • Guide students toward curriculum goals and help prepare them for exams and assignments.

  • Build meaningful connections with students by creating a friendly, encouraging, and welcoming learning environment.

  • Provide learning opportunities that support students' intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.

  • Assess, measure, and document student development and progress.

  • Collaborate with teachers to strengthen instruction, enhance student learning, and share responsibility for positive student outcomes.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Valid Ohio teaching license or substitute teaching license.

  • Prior tutoring experience in a school setting preferred.

  • Ability to effectively use school technology, including academic software and Google tools.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Safe Environment Requirements

  • Successful completion of criminal records checks through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

  • Must have completed or be willing to complete VIRTUS Protecting God's Children training.
