JV Assistant Softball Coach

Archbishop Hoban High School is seeking a dedicated and motivated JV Assistant Softball Coach to join its athletic program. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, a commitment to player development, and a focus on the growth and success of the overall softball program.
The JV Assistant Softball Coach will support the program’s vision, help student-athletes develop their athletic abilities, and promote teamwork, discipline, and respect while incorporating Archbishop Hoban’s mission and Holy Cross core values.
Archbishop Hoban is a private Catholic high school located in East Akron and rooted in the Holy Cross tradition. The school is committed to educating both the hearts and minds of students, welcoming every person with the hospitality of Christ, and fostering student achievement and personal growth.
Assist in developing and supporting the vision and goals of the softball program.
Help coordinate the development and promotion of the program.
Maintain team standards for behavior, sportsmanship, and adherence to established rules and expectations.
Hold student-athletes and adults associated with the program accountable to consistent standards.
Promote a positive team culture grounded in discipline, teamwork, and respect.
Supervise practices and assist with individual and team development.
Apply a strong understanding of player development for high school softball athletes.
Use a variety of instructional and coaching techniques to meet student-athletes’ needs and improve their skills.
Encourage individual growth in athletic ability, teamwork, discipline, and respect.
Support and motivate student-athletes as they develop both on and off the field.
Maintain softball equipment and help ensure it is kept in appropriate condition.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
Hold an active Ohio Pupil Activity Permit or be able to obtain one.
Successfully complete required online coaching training modules.
Be available to supervise practices and competitions after school and on weekends.
Demonstrate a proven ability to support and motivate others.
Complete an appropriate criminal background check.
Have completed or be willing to complete VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training.
Strong communication and organizational skills, a commitment to player development, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential for success in this role.
The JV Assistant Softball Coach is expected to support Archbishop Hoban High School’s Catholic mission and Holy Cross tradition. Coaches play an important role in helping students grow in character, develop their abilities, and demonstrate teamwork, discipline, and respect.
The successful candidate will contribute to an athletic environment that reflects the school’s commitment to educating the whole person and welcoming every individual with the hospitality of Christ.
Compensation: Seasonal stipend.
Schedule: After-school practices and competitions, including weekends.
