Long-Term Substitute Teacher – Junior High Mathematics

St. Bernadette School – Westlake, Ohio

St. Bernadette School, a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School and a 2026 Northeast Ohio Top Workplace, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Teacher for our 7th and 8th grade mathematics program.

This position is responsible for teaching courses that include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry. The ideal candidate will have a strong mathematics background, experience working with junior high students, and the ability to provide engaging, rigorous instruction to students at varying levels of mathematical readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry courses to 7th and 8th grade students.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student growth and continuity of instruction.
  • Support the Catholic identity, mission, and values of St. Bernadette School.

Qualifications

  • Valid Ohio teaching license or certification that includes high school mathematics is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry content.
  • Effective classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students at varying levels.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to supporting the academic and personal growth of junior high students.
