The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland and Holy Name High School are pleased to accept applications for the position of Marketing and Communications Associate. Founded in 1914, Holy Name High School is a diocesan-sponsored, co-educational, comprehensive high school with a college preparatory emphasis and is committed to leading young adults to Christ by educating them in mind, body, and spirit. With a population of more than 650 students in grades nine through twelve, Holy Name High School provides young men and women with a nurturing and supportive educational environment in which to grow academically, spiritually, socially, and morally.

Position Summary:

The Marketing and Communications Associate is a hands-on creative professional who produces content, executes campaigns, and manages creative projects from concept through completion, working under the strategic and creative direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications. The Associate owns the day-to-day production and execution of the school’s communications across print, digital, social, web, and event channels. The Director retains responsibility for departmental strategy, creative direction, institutional messaging, brand standards, crisis and emergency communications, and final approval of major campaigns. All work aligns with Holy Name High School’s mission, brand standards, and communications priorities.

This role requires regular contact with students and families and access to school photography, contact information, and other sensitive materials. Accordingly, the Diocese of Cleveland requires a background/criminal history check and VIRTUS safe-environment certification for this position.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a curious, resourceful, hands-on creative who enjoys turning ideas into finished work and notices the stories and moments others overlook. He or she moves comfortably between photography, video, writing, design, and digital publishing and understands that strong creative work requires both imagination and dependable execution. The candidate can bring ideas forward, welcome creative direction and feedback, meet deadlines, and know when a routine matter has become sensitive and should be elevated. The candidate builds positive relationships across the school community, is energized by the pace of a school environment, and supports the mission and values of Catholic education.

Responsibilities:

Content Production & Publishing:

  • Produce and distribute the Weekly Wave, Holy Name’s weekly school-family e-newsletter, from content collection through publishing
  • Create, schedule, and publish day-to-day content across Holy Name’s social media platforms
  • Maintain and update website content, pages, photography, and digital assets
  • Draft, format, and distribute routine school communications and announcements

Storytelling, Photography & Design:

  • Capture and edit photography and video at school events and across daily campus life
  • Maintain an organized, searchable digital asset library
  • Design digital and print materials within Holy Name’s established brand standards

Campaign & Event Marketing Support:

  • Develop and produce promotional materials and campaigns for school events
  • Support admissions recruitment and enrollment marketing — event campaigns, prospective-family emails, social content, and collateral
  • Support advancement, alumni, and fundraising initiatives — event promotion, storytelling, and recognition content

Coordination & Collaboration:

  • Coordinate assignments and review content from student creative-team contributors
  • Coordinate information, approvals, and creative assets with departments across the school
  • Elevate sensitive or high-profile communications to the Director for review
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Event Attendance and Coverage:

  • Regular evening and weekend work is an essential part of this position. The Associate attends designated priority events — across admissions, advancement and alumni, school and community, and athletics — for photography, video, and promotional coverage. Priority events are set annually by the Director and include, but are not limited to, Open House, Namers' Night of Giving Gala, the annual golf outing, Homecoming, graduation, and major school celebrations. The Associate is not expected to attend every school event, but attendance at designated priority events is a condition of the role.

What Success Looks Like

  • Recurring communications — the Weekly Wave, social media, and website — are accurate, on-brand, and delivered on time
  • School events and milestones are consistently captured and shared across the school’s channels
  • Marketing and creative projects move efficiently from request to completion
  • Admissions, advancement, alumni, athletics, and school events receive coordinated promotional support

Qualifications (required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design, or a related field — or equivalent experience and portfolio work
  • One to three years of relevant marketing, communications, or creative-production experience
  • A portfolio demonstrating creative ability and completed work
  • Demonstrated ability in several areas of: photography, video editing, graphic design, writing, social media, and website content management
  • Strong organizational, project-management, and communication skills
  • Willingness and availability to work regular evenings and weekends for school events
  • Strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese of Cleveland and the Catholic Church
  • Ability to successfully pass a background/criminal history check and complete VIRTUS certification

Qualifications (preferred)

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, website content-management systems, email platforms, and social publishing tools
  • Experience in a school, nonprofit, agency, or other fast-paced communications environment
  • Willingness to learn new tools (AI, new software, etc) and adapt as communications platforms change
