MIDDLE SCHOOL EDUCATIONAL AIDE

POSITION SUMMARY

St. Paul School, a ministry of the Diocese of Youngstown, is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered Middle School Educational Aide to support students and teachers in grades 6–8.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with classroom teachers and school administration to foster a safe, faith-filled, and engaging learning environment where every student is challenged to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys working with adolescents, demonstrates professionalism and flexibility, and embraces the mission of Catholic education.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide instructional and classroom support under the direction of classroom teachers and school administration.

• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic skills and classroom instruction.

• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and learning activities.

• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned duties.

• Support students with organization, executive functioning, and appropriate classroom behavior.

• Foster respectful relationships while promoting student responsibility, accountability, and independence.

• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.

• Collaborate effectively with teachers, intervention specialists, counselors, and administrators.

• Assist with school-wide events, field trips, testing, and other responsibilities as assigned.

• Model Christian values and contribute positively to the faith life and culture of the school.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma required; associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred.

• Genuine commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.

• Experience working with middle school-aged students preferred.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

• Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and flexibility.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative educational team.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND CLEARANCES

Candidates must:

• Hold or obtain a valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

• Successfully pass BCI and FBI criminal background checks.

• Be VIRTUS® Protecting God's Children trained or be willing to complete the required Diocese of Youngstown Safe Environment training prior to employment.

• Meet all Diocese of Youngstown Safe Environment requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate must be able to:

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the school day.

• Lift and carry instructional materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and other school settings.
