Position Summary

St. Ladislas Parish is seeking a Director of Faith Formation to lead and coordinate faith formation and religious education programming for children from Pre-K through 8th grade, teens, adults, and families.

The Director will promote meaningful engagement of parents, families, and parishioners of all ages in the life of the parish. This ministerial position plays an important role in carrying out the religious mission of the parish by teaching and transmitting the Catholic faith, facilitating faith formation, supporting sacramental preparation, and assisting the Pastor in the spiritual and catechetical formation of parishioners.

Position Details

  • Status: Part-time, Ministerial Position

  • Hours: 20–30 hours per week

  • Reports to: Pastor

  • Works with: Good Shepherd Coordinator, Youth and Young Adult Minister, and ministry leaders associated with Faith Formation

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and help coordinate the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program.

  • Assist with and oversee sacramental preparation for Baptism and Confirmation.

  • Lead the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) program in collaboration with the Pastor.

  • Promote programs for lifelong faith formation and meaningful engagement of parents and young adults in parish life.

  • Work independently while collaborating with pastoral staff in a team-focused environment.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive church matters and personal information of parish members.

  • Collaborate with church staff members and volunteers to support parish ministries and initiatives.

  • Work with the Deanery to collaborate on faith formation efforts.

  • Attend monthly staff meetings and plan and facilitate meetings when assigned.

  • Coordinate and assist with the Vacation Bible School program.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church.

  • Demonstrated commitment, through speech and behavior, to the values, teachings, mission, and ministry of the Catholic Church and the Diocese of Cleveland.

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, education, or a relevant field.

  • Certification in lay ecclesial ministry preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of the Catholic Church, Catholic Sacraments, and Catholic rites and liturgies related to faith formation.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Canon Law as it applies to the Sacraments.

  • Familiarity with and commitment to continued study and exploration of Catholic Church documents related to formation, sacraments, rites, liturgies, and ministries.

  • Minimum of one year of experience leading ministry and supervising people in ministry.

  • Ability to apply and exercise good judgment and appropriate safety standards.

  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.

  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to manage daily operations on a scale consistent with the parish.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Proficiency with office software, such as Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
