The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland is seeking a Multimedia Communications Specialist to contribute to the Department of Communications’ evangelization efforts through the creation of video, digital, and written content across a variety of diocesan communications platforms.
Working under the direction of the Executive Director of Communications, the Multimedia Communications Specialist will create content for the diocesan website, magazine, digital newsletters, podcasts, social media channels, and other communications platforms. The position requires strong multimedia production, storytelling, writing, editing, and digital communication skills.
Create multimedia content for all diocesan-owned media platforms.
Conduct and record interviews, gather B-roll and images, write scripts, and edit and produce:
Video feature packages and stories.
News reports.
School series.
Special programs and other multimedia content.
Serve as on-camera talent and record voice-over narration as needed.
Assist the Senior Manager of Digital Strategy with video and written content creation for various platforms and multimedia channels.
Contribute to the editorial planning process by researching and identifying people and topics of interest for:
Videos.
Magazine features.
Digital newsletters.
Video reports.
Manage the planning, scheduling, and execution of communications projects in a timely and efficient manner.
Monitor and report on project analytics.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic Church, its teachings, and traditions.
Strong commitment to the values, mission, ministry, and evangelization mission of the Catholic Church.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism/multimedia journalism, public relations, or a related field.
Three to five years of successful experience in communications, journalism, public relations, public affairs, or related content creation utilizing multiple platforms and digital tools.
Skilled in on-camera communication, client relationship management, creative direction, and fast-paced multimedia production.
Demonstrated mastery of available technologies and their strategic use in serving the Bishop, parishes, schools, diocesan ministries, and other institutions related to the Diocese.
Strong discretion and discernment when handling sensitive, confidential, and critical information.
Energetic, creative, forward-thinking, and positive.
Passion for the mission of the Catholic Church.
Demonstrated creativity and experience developing digital storytelling pieces using video and audio production skills.
Experience recording and editing with digital editing applications.
Samples of work are required.
Excellent writing, scripting, editing, and proofreading skills.
Proficiency in website content creation and the appropriate use of social media platforms to support communications efforts.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with a wide range of constituencies.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly:
Adobe Premiere Pro
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Audition
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other common office software.
Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software.
Experience with livestreaming video.
Experience with website content management systems.
Experience with graphic design software and design best practices.
Ability to create strong and effective graphics that enhance digital content.
