The Parish School of Religion (PSR) Principal provides leadership and oversight for the parish's faith formation program for children and youth. Working closely with the Pastor, parish staff, catechists, parents, and volunteers, this position ensures the religious education program faithfully reflects the teachings and mission of the Roman Catholic Church while fostering a welcoming environment that supports lifelong discipleship.
The PSR Principal is responsible for the planning, administration, and continuous improvement of the parish's religious education program, including sacramental preparation, catechist formation, curriculum implementation, and program operations.
Provide leadership for the Parish School of Religion in support of the parish's mission and evangelization efforts.
Coordinate all aspects of the religious education program, including registration, scheduling, student records, and program administration.
Oversee sacramental preparation in collaboration with the Pastor and parish staff.
Recruit, train, support, and evaluate catechists and volunteers.
Ensure curriculum aligns with diocesan standards and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Foster a welcoming, faith-filled environment for students, families, catechists, and volunteers.
Maintain compliance with diocesan Safe Environment policies and volunteer requirements.
Prepare reports, manage the program budget, and maintain accurate program records.
Collaborate with parish leadership to support parish-wide faith formation initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.
Commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
Bachelor's degree required; degree in Theology, Religious Education, Education, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge of Catholic doctrine, sacramental preparation, and religious education.
Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and standard office technology.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with parish staff and volunteers.
Experience in parish ministry, Catholic education, religious education, or educational leadership.
Familiarity with diocesan policies, parish management software, and faith formation programs.
Part-time
Approximately 8 hours per week
Some evening or weekend hours required during the religious education year, sacramental celebrations, and parish events.
