Program: Ohio Licensed Preschool Aftercare Program
Mary Queen of Peace Preschool is seeking dedicated staff members to join its Ohio Licensed Preschool Aftercare Program. Because the program is strictly regulated by the state, this position places a strong emphasis on compliance, safety, and providing excellent care.
Unlike traditional aftercare programs, the Preschool Aftercare Program serves preschool students only. To meet state requirements, staff children and children from other grades are not permitted to attend or assist.
Staff-to-child ratios are strictly enforced based on the age of the youngest child in the group:
3-year-olds: 1 staff member to 12 children
4- and 5-year-olds: 1 staff member to 14 children
All requirements must be completed before beginning work in the Preschool Aftercare Program in order to comply with the annual State Inspection.
Active account with the OPR (Ohio Professional Registry) in the Preschool Licensing System.
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum age of 18.
DCY School-Based Preschool Staff Orientation — 4-hour training.
CPR/First Aid Training — renewed every two years.
Management of Communicable Disease Course — 6-hour training; $44.95; renewed every two years.
Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition Course — 6-hour training; $44.95; renewed every two years.
Virtus Trained credential.
Background check — completed every five years.
Signed Medical Statement.
Signed Non-Conviction Statement — submitted each school year.
Commitment to completing 10 annual hours of professional in-service training per school year.
Assume direct responsibility for the care and safety of students at all times.
Maintain required staff-to-child ratios at all times.
Report and record signs of illness or injury and complete incident reports as required.
Report any suspicion of child abuse, neglect, or endangerment immediately to Cuyahoga County Children and Family Services and the Administrator/Assistant Administrator.
Implement the classroom curriculum, including lesson planning and documentation.
Ensure the daily classroom schedule provides a balance of quiet and active play.
Provide indoor and outdoor activities that support the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs of each child.
Ensure the classroom remains neat, clean, safe, and in proper working order.
Provide regular communication and feedback to parents and guardians.
Complete daily activity reports, progress reports, and other required documentation.
Complete approved, specialized professional development hours as required by the Ohio Department of Education.
Participate in staff meetings and training as needed.
Make themselves available to staff, students, parents, and administrators as needed.
Protect the rights of others and maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding Center faculty, staff, students, and Center matters.
Adhere to the business professional dress code.
Staff are expected to respect the spiritual values set forth in the school's Mission Statement and assist in the Christian formation of students by exemplifying the characteristics of Christian living through their own actions.
