Position Details

  • Position Type: Part-Time

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:30 a.m.–12:45 p.m.

  • Pay Rate: $17 per hour

  • Reports To: School Administration

Position Summary

St. Francis of Assisi School is seeking a dependable, energetic, and caring individual to join its team as a Part-Time Recess Monitor.

The Recess Monitor will supervise students in grades K–8 during recess and outdoor play, helping maintain a safe, positive, and respectful environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and demonstrates patience, attentiveness, sound judgment, and a commitment to student safety and well-being.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise students in grades K–8 during recess and outdoor play.

  • Promote safe, positive, and respectful interactions among students.

  • Actively monitor student behavior and help prevent accidents or conflicts.

  • Encourage students to follow school rules and playground expectations.

  • Assist students in resolving minor disagreements and report concerns to the appropriate staff.

  • Help students transition safely to and from recess.

  • Communicate injuries, safety concerns, and significant behavioral issues to school staff.

  • Provide a positive, caring, and supportive presence for students.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Enjoy working with elementary and middle school students.

  • Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, attentiveness, and responsibility.

  • Ability to maintain active supervision and respond appropriately to student needs.

  • Demonstrate patience, kindness, and good judgment.

  • Previous experience working with children preferred but not required.

  • Successfully complete required BCI and FBI background checks.

  • Complete VIRTUS safe-environment training and meet all applicable diocesan requirements.

Schedule and Compensation

  • Days: Monday–Friday

  • Hours: 10:30 a.m.–12:45 p.m.

  • Compensation: $17 per hour
