Saint Joseph Academy is seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This position is responsible for financial planning, forecasting, and analysis while overseeing key month-end accounting activities. The Senior Accountant ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, prepares journal entries, reconciles complex accounts, and supports budgeting, reporting, and continuous process improvement.
Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expense entries.
Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, inter-fund transactions, and fixed assets.
Review general ledger activity to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Assist with annual audit preparation and supporting documentation.
Analyze actual financial results against budgets and prior-year performance.
Support the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
Prepare financial reports, management reports, and key performance indicator (KPI) tracking.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting and reporting efficiency.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Three to five years of accounting experience.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Commitment to supporting the mission of Catholic education.
CPA, CMA, or MBA designation.
Experience with ERP systems, preferably Blackbaud Financial Edge.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
