It’s almost time for #weGiveCatholic on Nov. 28

News of the Diocese

November 22, 2017

The second #weGiveCatholic, Northeast Ohio?s Catholic day of online giving, is just around the corner. The unique fundraising event, which takes place in conjunction with Giving Tuesday, will last for 24 hours on Nov. 28. It will benefit more than 170 Catholic schools, parishes and Catholic nonprofits. Donations to any of the participating groups can be made safely online at weGiveCatholic.org any time during the 24-hour window for giving.

Here?s a peek at some of the events planned by participating organizations and at some of the causes donations will support.

The West Side Catholic Center arranged for the Terminal Tower to be lit in its signature blue and orange the night of Nov. 28 as a ?glowing reminder? for donors to support their neighbors in need in Cleveland.

St. Peter School in North Ridgeville will host a parking lot donation party during student drop-off and pick-up times. Parents will receive notices about the event with information about making a donation online at that time or another time on Nov. 28.

St. Malachi Parish on Cleveland?s West Side will have a workshop after Masses on Nov. 26 in the parish hall with its #weGiveCatholic team to help parishioners create their own related fundraisers on Facebook and to teach them how to like and share messages on Nov. 28.

At St. Paschal Baylon School in Highland Heights, there will be Facebook Live videos during the day to encourage followers to support the school?s Bourgeois Broadcast Booth and Makerspace.

Catholic Charities Disabilities Services is planning to offer incentives for supporters with raffles throughout the day. Anyone who donates during a prescribed time period will be entered into a drawing for a gift card for a local restaurant. At the end of that time block, the winner will be announced on Facebook Live.

St. Mary School in Elyria will have an open house 2-7 p.m. during Joy of the Gospel prize time. Parents are invited to stop into the school?s computer lab to donate online.

And in Brunswick, St. Ambrose Parish adopted nearly 50 families in need. During the 12 days prior to Christmas, parishioners will make and drop off little gifts of thoughtfulness and remembrance to these families. #weGiveCatholic donations will support this project and other parish outreach ministries.

Visit weGiveCatholic.org for a complete list of participating organizations and more information on how to make a donation.
