News of the Diocese

January 17, 2018

All are invited to the Diocese of Cleveland?s annual Mass for Life, which will take place at 10 a.m. Jan. 22 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in downtown Cleveland. Bishop emeritus Martin Amos, a native of Cleveland and retired bishop of the Diocese of Davenport, Iowa, will celebrate the Mass. He also will be the homilist.

The Mass will be streamed live at dioceseofcleveland.org and on radio station AM 1260 The Rock for those unable to attend.

A Rosary for Life will be said immediately after the Mass.

This year is the 45th anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. The Mass is the diocesan observance of the Day for Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. Many representatives from the diocese are expected to be among the thousands who will attend the National Prayer Vigil for Life Jan. 18-19 at the Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., followed by the March for Life on Jan. 19.

Bishop Nelson Perez recorded a special video message for the occasion:
