On May 28 Frank O’Linn, secretary for education and superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Cleveland, announced the appointment of Charles P. Fuller as the next principal of Lake Catholic High School.
“Mr. Fuller is our top choice for Lake Catholic, and we have every confidence he will lead the academic, spiritual, and personal development of the Lake Catholic student body, where students of diverse interests and abilities are encouraged to learn, to work, and to think for themselves,” commented O’Linn. “Mr. Fuller has been an instrumental leader in the recent invigoration of Lake Catholic’s vibrant, collaborative culture that embodies love of knowledge, love of persons, and love of God,” added O’Linn.
Fuller started at Lake Catholic in 2008 as an Advanced Placement Social Studies teacher and has spearheaded many student and faculty enrichment programs. For students he has seen test scores rise with ACT/SAT test prep classes. He has also helped to elevate close reading scores by implementing Achieve 3000 protocols throughout the school.
For the faculty, he has served as an instructional coach, resident educator mentor, strategic plan academic adviser, and Lake Catholic’s OCSAA Accreditation Team Co-Chairperson.
Fuller has been actively involved in moderating student organizations as well as leading student events focused on celebrating their achievement. Since January of this year Mr. Fuller has served as the Associate Principal. Prior to that he served as the Director of College Guidance for seven years, helping to guide Cougar alumni to some of the best schools in the country while helping them garner nearly $100 million in college scholarships.
Fuller will serve the school together with President Mark Crowley, who since August of 2017 has led the school through a renewed focus on its mission and core values to emphasize the quality of student formation and growth. “The school is on firm footing, poised to celebrate its upcoming 50th anniversary and on a pathway to lead the way for Catholic education in Lake County for the next 50 years,” added O’Linn.
Fuller succeeds Rick Koenig who has served as interim principal since July 2018. Koenig has been associated with Lake Catholic since 1973 either as a teacher, parent or administrator; will serve as associate principal for special projects, including Lake Catholic’s participation in the diocese’s groundbreaking Better Together initiative.
“Mr. Fuller has proven himself to be an outstanding educational leader, working collaboratively with the school’s excellent faculty to further the core values that animate the Lake Catholic experience: a commitment to excellence, a spirit of respect and compassion, personal integrity, and a willingness to serve,” added O’Linn.
