Clergy assignment changes – January 2020

Father Thomas J. Winkel, senior parochial vicar, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, South Euclid, received permission to retire effective July 1. In addition, Father Winkel was granted permission to live at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, South Euclid, effective July 1.

Father Anthony J. Suso, pastor, St. Columbkille Parish, Parma, was elected as a Presbyteral Convener -- Suburban Southwest District, to complete the term of office for Father Lawrence Jurcak, who was appointed pastor, St. Mary Parish, Hudson, effective Jan. 6.

Father Robert D. McWilliams concluded his assignment as parochial vicar, St. Joseph Parish, Strongsville, and was placed on administrative leave, effective Dec. 5, 2019.

Father Paschal Rosca, O de M, concludes his appointment as spiritual director for the Northwest Deanery of the Holy Name Society, effective immediately. Father Rosca continues his appointment as parochial vicar, St. Rocco Parish, Cleveland.

Father James P. Schmitz, pastor, St. Leo the Great Parish, Cleveland, was reappointed pastor, St. Leo the great Parish, Cleveland for a renewable six-year term, effective Jan. 1.

Father James R. Stenger, pastor, Mary Queen of the Apostles Parish, Brook Park, was appointed administrator, St. John Bosco Parish, Parma Heights effective Jan. 6. This appointment is in addition to his assignment as pastor, Mary Queen of the Apostles Parish, Brook Park.

Father Joseph D. McNulty, pastor, St. Augustine Parish, Cleveland, received permission to retire effective June 30.

Father Richard K. Burchell, pastor, St. Rita Parish, Solon, received permission to retire effective June 30.

Father Kevin J. Klonowski concludes his appointment as parochial vicar, Holy Family Parish, Stow, and was appointed parochial vicar, St. Joseph Parish, Strongsville effective Feb. 24.

Father Michael J. Denk concludes his status of released from diocesan assignment and was been appointed parochial vicar, Holy Family Parish, Stow, effective Feb. 24.

Father Peter M. Mihalic submitted his resignation from the office of pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Fairport Harbor. Archbishop-elect Nelson accepted his resignation effective June 30. Father Mihalic will be receiving a new assignment in the near future.

Father Eric S. Garris, parochial vicar, St. Raphael Parish, Bay Village was appointed chaplain of Oberlin College, Oberlin, effective Feb. 1. This appointment is in addition to his assignment as parochial vicar, St. Raphael Parish, Bay Village.

Father Charles M. Butkowski, pastor, St. Adalbert Parish, Berea, was appointed chaplain of Baldwin Wallace University, Berea effective Feb. 1. This appointment is in addition to his assignment as pastor, St. Adalbert Parish, Berea.

Father Joseph Previte, pastor, Holy Rosary Parish, Cleveland, was appointed chaplain of Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, effective Feb. 1. This appointment is in addition to his assignment as pastor, Holy Rosary Parish, Cleveland.

Father Christopher J. Zerucha, pastor, St. Bernard Parish, Akron, and pastor, St. Mary Parish, Akron, was appointed chaplain of the University of Akron, effective Feb. 1. This appointment is in addition to his assignment as pastor, St. Bernard Parish, Akron and pastor, St. Mary Parish, Akron.

Father Richard J. Samide, parochial vicar, St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Wooster, was appointed chaplain of the College of Wooster, effective Feb. 1. This appointment is in addition to his assignment as parochial vicar, St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Wooster.
