The wake for Deacon Terry W. Peacock, retired, will begin with vespers at 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at St. Sebastian Church, 476 Mull Ave., Akron and will continue until 7 p.m. Bishop Edward Malesic will preside at vespers. Father Anthony Simone, parochial vicar at St. Sebastian, will be the homilist.
Auxiliary Bishop emeritus Roger Gries will celebrate Deacon Peacock’s funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 in St. Sebastian Church. Father John Valencheck, St. Sebastian pastor, will be the homilist.
Deacon Peacock, 81, died on Nov. 4. He is survived by his children and grandchildren. His wife, Suzanne, predeceased him.
Bishop Anthony Pilla ordained him to the permanent diaconate on June 6, 1981 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
Deacon Peacock was assigned to serve St. Peter Parish in Akron after his ordination. He was assigned on Dec. 1, 1986 to serve at St. Sebastian Parish in Akron. During this assignment, he was appointed pastoral administrator pro tem of St John the Baptist Parish in Akron, serving in that role from September to December 1997. On May 3, 2001, he was appointed parish life coordinator at St. John the Baptist.
Deacon Peacock was granted retirement on March 12, 2003. After retirement, he continued to serve at St. Sebastian Parish.
Those who knew him said Deacon Peacock loved his work with children, teaching in the classroom and helping with sacramental preparation. He was always ready to meet with anybody at any time to assist with their needs.
Interment will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
