The Fall 2024 edition of Spotlight on Schools kicks off with some cross country runners earning high marks for good sportsmanship. The CYO cross country programs from Holy Trinity and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception schools in Avon, along with St. Joseph school in Avon Lake, combined forces to form the Avon Catholic Community Cross Country, also known as ACXC. While the three schools in Lorain County can be rivals at times, they work as a community of runners in this sport, training together as a unit.
Besides a lesson in cooperation, this latest edition features a panel of students from three diocesan high schools. The students shared their views on the benefits of a Catholic education at a special event for the First Friday Club of Cleveland. See a related story about the program here.
Spotlight on Schools closes with some avid readers reaping the benefits of a revamped library. Thanks to the generosity of the Christ Child Society of Cleveland, the library at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel West has now reopened since its closing during the pandemic. The students enjoy weekly library sessions along with their four-legged friend, Allie, who adds canine power to the joy of reading.
