During this season of Advent, a time of anticipation and preparation for the Savior’s birth, the faithful are invited to prepare their hearts and minds for his coming.
One suggested way to do so is through “My Daily Prayers,” a free recording of prayers led by the bishops and priests of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland and delivered by email early each morning. The daily recordings, which debuted on Dec. 3, 2023 – the first Sunday of Advent – are about 10 minutes long and invite all into prayer.
My Daily Prayers has been embraced by thousands of faithful throughout the eight-county diocese during the past two years. Each recording shares information about the day and what it means to the Church, including background about saints and the various feast days.
The pre-recorded daily prayer sessions offer encouragement and an invitation to enter into a deeper personal relationship with the Lord.
Bishop Edward Malesic and Auxiliary Bishop Michael Woost are among the clergy who lead the prayers. Bishop Malesic, who released his first pastoral letter a years ago, encouraged everyone to spend time each day with the Lord. He noted that Advent, which also begins the new liturgical year, is a perfect time to begin a new practice of daily prayer.
Sharing the recorded prayer sessions is also an opportunity for the diocese to connect with the faithful and to encourage them to open their hearts to the Lord, receiving his guidance, healing and blessings, especially during Advent.
In addition to being delivered daily by email to subscribers’ inboxes, My Daily Prayers can be accessed through the diocesan social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram and "X" (formerly Twitter).
