Lakewood native professes vows as Benedictine monk at Saint Vincent Archabbey

Brother Aidan (Timothy) Sheridan, OSB, a native of Lakewood, made his solemn profession of monastic vows on July 1 at Saint Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

The son of the late Eugene and Pauline Sheridan, he entered the monastic community as a novice in 2021 and professed simple vows on July 10, 2022. Brother Sheridan is studying for a degree in nursing while also serving as assistant to the director of the monastery infirmary and as assistant to the director of Oblates, a position he has had since 2022.

A 1982 graduate of Northwestern High School, Brother Sheridan earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Notre Dame College of South Euclid in 2009. He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy the same year from Borromeo Seminary, which is affiliated with John Carroll University. Brother Sheridan also studied at Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology.  

In addition, he studied music at Saint Vincent College and took graduate courses at Saint Vincent Seminary.

He is a former teacher and a U.S. Navy veteran.
