Lions, witches, superheroes, princesses and more roamed the grounds of Camp Christopher in Akron on Oct. 17 during the annual Fall Fest.
The day was bright, sunny and crisp for the popular event, which attracted families from across the diocese. Guests enjoyed some early Halloween and fall fun, with many of the children dressed in costumes.
There was trick-or-treating all afternoon as well as a scavenger hunt. Guests roamed the camp grounds searching for a variety of people, places and things like a “person painting fellow festival attendees” or finding Friends of Camp Chrisopher and giving them a “high five.” They also faced challenges like finding the camp flagpole and figuring out “how many bricks long is the entrance to the flagpole?” They even were asked to visit one cabin and tell their best joke.
Once guests completed the scavenger hunt, they could bring the completed form to the dining hall where they received a raffle ticket for raffle baskets.
While in the dining hall, they could watch a balloon artist and take home a creation.
In addition, there were carnival games, hayrides, food trucks, face painting, a costume contest, vendors and more. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Bath Township Police had vehicles on site for visitors to explore. They also could touch a tractor, enjoy a magic show and the petting zoo, as well as take photos at a special photo opp location near the lake.
Camp Christopher, established in 1924, is a ministry of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland, is one of the largest summer camps in Northeast Ohio. It also offers programs for children, families, seniors, persons with disabilities and more.
