Saint Ignatius High School is seeking an experienced and dependable Maintenance Associate to support physical plant operations across the school's 25-acre Cleveland campus. The campus includes approximately 20 buildings ranging from newly constructed facilities to structures more than 140 years old.
The Maintenance Associate will work collaboratively with the Maintenance, Facilities, Groundskeeping, Events, and Custodial teams. This position involves general labor, basic repairs, campus upkeep, event support, vehicle maintenance, and assisting maintenance technicians with a variety of projects.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong work ethic, basic knowledge of common tools and repairs, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to learn new skills.
Standard hours: 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Full-time, year-round position.
Periodic evening and weekend hours may be required to support school events.
Some overtime, including early mornings, late afternoons/evenings, and weekends, may be expected.
Reports to the Director of Campus Operations or designee.
Assist Maintenance Technicians with repairs, projects, errands, setup, and cleanup.
Assist with facility and event setups, resets, and tear-downs.
Support Groundskeeping with campus cleanup, snow removal, and other seasonal tasks.
Move furniture and equipment as needed.
Haul and dispose of trash and recyclables at designated locations.
Perform light plumbing tasks, such as plunging toilets.
Perform light HVAC tasks, including changing filters.
Assist with light mechanical work and equipment cleaning or repairs.
Assist the custodial team with major cleaning projects, including floors and deep-cleaning activities.
Complete other maintenance and campus-support tasks as assigned.
Conduct twice-weekly checks of approximately 10 school vehicles.
Check and maintain gas, oil, washer fluid, and other basic vehicle needs.
Keep school vehicles clean inside and outside.
Operate school vehicles as needed for school operations.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Approximately three years of related work experience.
Valid Ohio driver's license.
Ability to meet school insurability requirements.
General knowledge of common tools and their proper use.
Basic repair and maintenance knowledge.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Professional and appropriate appearance.
Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.
Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
Willingness to learn new skills.
Ability to navigate a 25-acre campus on foot.
Ability to climb up to six flights of stairs.
Ability to perform moderate physical labor without difficulty.
The position requires regular physical activity, including walking throughout campus, moving furniture and equipment, assisting with maintenance and grounds work, and handling moderate physical labor.
The employee must be able to work both indoors and outdoors and may encounter varying weather conditions. Evening, weekend, and overtime work may occasionally be required to support school events and campus operations.
