"Peace be with all of you!" - the first words of Pope Leo XIV. The Conclave has elected Robert Francis Cardinal Prevost as the 267th Bishop of Rome. The new pope was announced to the waiting crowds by Cardinal Protodeacon Dominique Mamberti.
I rejoice with the rest of the world at the announcement that the next successor of St. Peter has been named by the College of Cardinals under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Pope Leo XIV, as the Roman Pontiff, will shepherd us with love, proclaim the Gospel with fidelity, serve those most in need, and be the visible sign of our unity as believers in the Lord Jesus, risen from the dead.
