Pastoral Associate Full-time Exempt position Reports to: Pastor Job Summary: Supports parishioner’s spiritual growth and encourages their involvement. Enables and supervises parishioner led initiatives. Oversees records and information needed for sacramental celebrations. The ideal candidate joyful person who has a deep love for God and a background in Catholic theology. This person will engage parishioners and visitors of all ages.
Responsibilities/Duties: • Communion calls and homebound ministry: taking communion to the homebound; scheduling visits and ministers; recruiting of Eucharistic Ministers for homebound; coordinate with nursing/retirement homes within parish boundaries for Masses and communion calls.
• Liturgical responsibilities: recruitment of new ministers; scheduling and leading practices and trainings; sending reminders, integrating liturgical ministers into the ministerial software program; scheduling priests when the pastor is away; operate as head sacristan; assist at all special liturgies. • Establish parish faith formation groups and enable parishioners to run them. • Establish and lead a Welcoming Committee. • Offer bereavement group support. • Meet with families to plan funeral liturgies. • Schedule and collect sacramental information for baptisms. • Verifies all sacramental information for: Baptisms, first reconciliation, first communion, confirmation, OCIA, marriages. • Adult Faith Formation/Education including creating and leading a team as well as scheduling and planning faith formation opportunities. • Marriage ministry including leading a Pre-Cana team to coordinate with neighboring parishes on a collective Pre-Cana retreat day; planning and offering monthly Post-Cana marriage enrichment opportunities. • We Give Catholic coordinator. • Angel Scholarship Fund coordinator. • Virtus compliance coordinator. • Other responsibilities assigned by the Pastor.
Qualifications: • A background in and a desire to pursue further education in Catholic Theology. • Bachelor’s degree in Catholic theology and/or catechetics is preferred. • Capable of explaining and applying the Theology of the Catholic Church. • Actively practicing the Catholic faith and has experience in liturgical ministerial roles. • Virtus-training and fingerprinting will be required.
